Equipment needed includes touring skis, touring bindings, skins, crampons, backpack, an extra set of clothing, and personal equipment. Avalanche victim search device and shovels will be provided. Skiers also must bring their own meals and snacks for the tour.
All ski tourers must have an appropriate level of accident and personal liability insurance ( they recommend becoming a patron of the Swiss Ambulance Service REGA).
Flumserberg was the setting for Johanna Spyri's Heidi stories. This family friendly resort is the biggest winter sports destination in Eastern Switzerland and caters to both alpine and cross-country skiers. The resort is set between 1000 and 1400 metres while the ski region reaches a height of 2222 metres.
