Jackson Hole's new tram is scheduled to start running December 2008. It will be the most expensive and technically challenging aerial tram in the U.S. The resort officially started its countdown to the tram's opening by launching the aptly named tramformation.com to chronicle the construction. The Web site includes the details on the first year of the construction project as documented by award-winning filmmaker Peter Pilafian. The new tram will be twice the size as the original, carrying 100 passengers. It also will climb 4,139 vertical feet in 9 minutes, faster than its predecessor.
