Conditions have been better than ever at Winter Park this season. "This is the perfect day, with powder conditions and bluebird skies. And it's so hot, I'm about to take off my jacket." That's what Mistalynn Lee reported straight from the slopes recently.

Lee says it is one of the best early seasons in memory, according to guests and employees at the resort. "The excitement is everywhere. We're seeing it online socially when we put up our pictures, and people are making all kinds of posts about it on Facebook." She added that it is especially obvious with the locals. "We're seeing a lot of them out already, enjoying the early conditions."

Lodging bookings were up over Thanksgiving and Lee credits it to all of the snow that fell with storm after storm.

Everyone is now preparing for the Christmas and New Year's holiday. A holiday tree is at the Village at Winter Park. The torchlight parade and fireworks will be Christmas Eve at the base area. Father Christmas will be around, and the reindeer make a visit on Christmas Eve, before their big flight. Lee adds that the town of Winter Park is festive, too, with lights and decorations. "I love driving through town. It's so pretty with all of the snow and the lights. It's a mountain holiday and it's beautiful. We're so lucky to live where we live," said Lee.

You can visit, and take advantage of a Winter Park promotion, called, Give the Gift of Snow. Buy three nights and you'll get the fourth free, along with a $100 resort credit for use at Winter Park Resort, when booking Zephyr Mountain Lodge or Fraser Crossing/Founders Pointe. You'll need to book the deal by the end of the year. It's good through the end of the season. The resort has all of the details, dates, and any restrictions.
