Serre Chevalier gives guests the chance to go behind the scenes of a ski resort and discover what it's like to pilot a groomer.

The resort offers two time slots for riding a groomer: early-bird and night-owl time. The Lever du jour (sunrise) ride lasts from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Tuesday mornings. It includes breakfast and costs €29 per person.

The Balade sous les étoiles (stroll under the stars) ride runs from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and costs €25 per person. Skiers may also opt to enjoy a mountain meal until 11 p.m., for a total price of €50.

Those who want to feel the power of a 10-ton, 400-horsepower machine will want to attend Grooming School. It offers the chance to get into the driver's seat and discover what it's like to actually drive a groomer. A special learner's track includes bumps, hills, sharp turns, and uneven routes that simulate real conditions.

The drive lasts 20 minutes and costs €70 if you already have a lift pass or €76.50 with a return ticket for the lift.  The price drops to €56 per session, If you have a six-day lift pass. Grooming School is in session every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday afternoon.
