The new Adelboden Leisure and Sports Arena opens Dec. 19, offering curling, climbing, bowling, and ice skating.
Curling instructors will give one-hour sessions between 2-7 p.m. which are suitable for children and adults.
Alternatively, ascend the 13-metre wall in the climbing hall or negotiate boulders as you work out the best route. Mountain guides from the Adelboden Alpine School are on hand to ensure a safe experience.
The ten-pin bowling alley offers six lanes open for group taster sessions between 2 to11 p.m.
From Sunday, Dec. 19, the curling rinks, bowling alley, climbing hall, and adjoining restaurant are fully open for business. The skating rink will open mid-February.
Adelboden hosts a wealth of events throughout the season. One of the highlights is the Cross-Country Ski Night Adelboden which returns Thursday, Dec. 30 for the 16th time.
Each year, spectators line the village street to watch the duo races along the 100-metre sprint section on the Dorfstrasse. Anyone can take part in this fun, knock-out competition. The event is accompanied by live music as well as stalls selling refreshments and food.
Adelboden offers access to 170 kilometres of skiable terrain linked by 55 lifts. The resort also attracts professional with the FIS World Cup slalom events in held January each year.
