Check into a Keystone lodging property for your next ski trip and you'll get a little bit more. The resort offers three free activities. One is use of a free Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver. Hunt for three hidden caches along Keystone's trails. Check out the GPS with the Keystone Mountain Concierge in River Run.

Another option is a free Nordic Trail fee. Try Nordic skiing at the Keystone Nordic Center, daily from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A free scenic sleigh ride is offered during the winter, beginning Dec. 19. Call ahead for the schedule and to make a reservation. Dinner rides are also available for an extra fee.

Keystone Lake has ice skating, and you can get a free rink admission with your lodging stay. That doesn't include skate rental and kids under 17 must have a waiver signed by their parents.

Activities on the mountain include free NASTAR family racing. You'll find the NASTAR course in the Flying Dutchman Race Arena. Take a half-hour guided introduction to snow biking in the Summit Learning Area, during normal night ski operations. You'll need your ski boots and you must be 13 years old or older. You'll also need a lift ticket or pass and reservations are required.

A free night of night skiing also is offered on the day of your arrival, during regularly scheduled night ski operations. The person who made the reservation needs to be at the ticket window to redeem lift tickets, and they can't be resold. This deal is good only on the night of arrival.

A few other freebies include a free daily Spirits Tasting, of wine, beer, and spirits. This one is for those over 21. Or try some free hot chocolate from Summit House or Mountain House.
