La Plagne invites guests to spend New Year's with them and is offering two ways to do so: by partying hard into the new year at La Nuit du Pompon Rouge or calmly celebrating the arrival of 2011 in a secluded igloo village.
This year will be La Plagne's fourth time to host La Nuit du Pompon Rouge. This giant party turns the base resort into a sprawling dance floor that attracted more than 8000 party-goers last year. With DJs, fireworks, and light shows, La Plagne puts on one white-hot party.
For the occasion, guests are encouraged to dress all in their warmest white clothes. The party rocks from 10 p.m. to around 2 a.m., with free inter-resort shuttles between La Plagne, Champagny en Vanoise, Plagne Montalbert, and Montchavin Les Coches. There is no cover charge.
If 45,000 watts of sound is just not your thing, La Plagne also offers a cosy evening at Mon Village Igloo, on the Don du Praz plateau. To the sound of festive accordion music, guests will enjoy a rustic New Year's menu in an igloo. The meal includes a range of local products: warm soup made from market-fresh vegetables, local cheeses, hams, fresh-baked bread, and Savoie wines.
It is possible to spend the night in an igloo or just enjoy the meal before trekking back to your hotel room. The trek to the igloo village with meal costs €35 for an adult. The trek plus meal plus a night in an igloo costs €65 per adult.
