Since the beginning of last season, the Adrogue family began the changes which includes 2 new lifts for 2008, one chair lift and one Poma drag lift. Chapelco has also replaced the old double chair that began below the Ranch Manolo with a new quad chair. Freestylers and park rats will be happy to hear that Chapelco has installed a makeshift rope tow for 2008 in the park so no need to hike back and forth to grind rails and pop spines.
Speaking of freestyle, the Chapelco Ski and Snowboard School has added a new program and instructors dedicated to teach only terrain park and freestyle to those guests that want to add a little more up or work on that 50/50 down kink rail. Still on the freestyle note, Chapelco is holding its 2nd Annual Pro Freestyle Week, where the best Argentine pro freestyle skiers are on hand to coach the public and then end the week with a big air competition on various high kicker type jumps.
Everyone in the town of San Martin de Los Andes (15 miles from Chapelco) and Chapelco ski resort - and actually all of the Argentina snow sports industry - are excited to have a very big event September 6-13, the FIS World Cup Boarder Cross. Not only is it the first time this event will be at Chapelco, but it is the first time that it will occur in Argentina. This is very exciting for the small town of San Martin de Los Andes, and all the town people and resort staff will be putting their best foot forward to make sure the event goes well. With the new lifts and sales, operations, and customer service procedures implemented for 2008 this is the perfect chance to show off.
