Mont Sutton in the Eastern Townships of Quebec celebrates its 50th anniversary next month with three days of festivities.
The resort plans to kick off the weekend with $5 lift tickets Friday, Dec. 17. That's the price that prevailed when the lifts started spinning in 1960.
Guests also will get a piece of the 50th anniversary birthday cake, topped by 50 candles, at a party in the main chalet. A tapas dinner with Angel Forrest live, and an apres ski party, will be at the Bar Le Tucker, with prizes.
The party continues Saturday, Dec. 18 with fun races, kids activities, live DJ at the Bar Le Tucker patio, commemorative dinner (reservations required), and free outdoor concert by Les Trois Accords followed by fireworks.
The dinner runs 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, and costs $30 for adults, $15 for kids 12 and under. Tickets are available online, at customer service, or by calling the resort.
The party keeps going Sunday Dec. 19 with outdoor activities for the whole famly.
Mont Sutton has 54 runs, 174 acres of terrain, 40 percent of it glades, a snow park, nine chairlifts including one high-speed quad, two fixed-grip quads, and six doubles, a summit elevation of 3,175 feet, a vertical drop of 1,500 feet, and four mountain chalets.
