Ski Norquay has opened its slopes ahead of schedule for the second year in a row. The resort sold tickets to the public Nov. 3, the first resort in Canada to open this season. "It's early season skiing. Some of the trails are not full-width but we have a base of 30 centimeters, and the runs are ready to ski on," said Andre Queneville, General Manager of Ski Norquay.
Lake Louise Mountain Resort opened second Saturday Nov. 10. Terrain is limited to the main Wiwaxy run from the top of the Glacier Express Quad and beginner terrain at the base of the resort. Sunshine Village aims to open Nov. 15.
Marmot plans to open Nov. 16, it's earliest opening date ever. Snowmaking beefed up lower slopes, enough to open six runs: Tranquilizer, Sleepy Hollow, Bunny Hop, Old Road, School House, and Eagle Flight. The resort may open more slopes with snow in the forecast for the week of Nov. 12.
