La Clusaz is hosting the FIS Cross-Country World Cup Dec. 18 to 19. The events will take place at the Confins Nordic ski area.

The FIS Cross-Country World Cup began in Sweden Nov. 20. It then takes skiers to Finland and Germany before arriving in France. After France, it will continue its tour of Europe with races in Italy, Switzerland, and a return to the Scandinavian countries to finish March 20.

For the occasion, La Clusaz hopes to inspire young cross-country skiers with a weekend of activities just for kids. Children can get their first taste of the sport at the snow garden, under the supervision of certified instructors.

The resort is also creating a special children's autograph zone so that young fans can have easier access to the athletes and collect prize signatures.

La Clusaz will allow children to ski on the World Cup pistes in between the two races on Sunday, where they can literally follow in the traces of today's cross-country champions.

This will be the fifth time that the FIS has chosen La Clusaz to play a role in its World Cup event. La Clusaz hosted the races in 1987, 2004, 2006, and 2008.
