Echo Mountain continues to grow in popularity for the younger age group of skiers and riders looking to spend their on-snow time honing in their park skills. An Echo Team complete with rider sponsorship and video coverage capitalizes the commitment Echo provides to the park-and-pipe generation. A number of hosted events round out a jib-filled 2010-11 season at Echo Mountain.
Team Echo features 15 skiers and riders ranging in age from 10 to 26. Some have numerous accomplishments to their name while others are just getting their feet wet in the competition world. Echo's sponsorship includes a Season Pass, team jersey, and lift ticket compensation when athletes travel to events.
"We have a small marketing budget so team members are great ambassadors for us," Echo's Molly Mueller told OnTheSnow. "Marc (Moline, team member) is an idol for the younger kids. They love to come up to him and talk about the photos and video shoots he's part of for Echo." Mueller explains that this interaction provides excellent exposure for Team Echo.
Skiers and riders of all ages, abilities, and regions can compete in a series of events going on at the ski area throughout the season. The first event kicks off with Traffic Jam Jan. 8. The Team Challenge taking place Feb.12 involves teams of three. Participants are judged on riding, theme, and overall impression during one of the most fun events of the season.
March 19 marks the annual Liptricks Not Lipstick competition. The event celebrates Echo's 5th birthday, and takes place in The Junkyard with signature features including the Burton Stair Set.
