High in the Spring Mountains of southwestern Nevada sits Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort. Situated at the 8,500-foot level in spectacular Lee Canyon, the resort provides a quick winter getaway for visitors and inhabitants of Las Vegas, which is 45 minutes to the southeast. The ski hill has four lifts, including two double chairs and a triple, servicing 11 trails and a variety of tree skiing and riding over an 860-foot vertical drop. There's also a terrain park with the fine moniker of "Darkside." The operation's motto is "Real snow, real close," and there's plenty of it this season at Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort. Amenities include a café, a bar, a sports and rental shop. Although there is no overnight lodging slopeside, who needs it when all the glitz and glamour – and a surfeit of hotels – of Las Vegas is less than an hour away.
