La Toussuire-Les Sybelles, in the Maurienne area of the French Alps, is hosting Children's Week this Christmas, Dec. 18-26.
Children's Week includes a host of free events to entertain kids of all ages and let them experience the joys of the snow. For the event, the resort is building a giant snow castle complete with turrets and towers.
La Toussuire will also host various activities adapted to each age group: toboggans, igloos, sculptures, and a maze will all be built of snow and open to children all day long.
Children will be able to participate in several workshops such as snow sculpting, igloo building, and a snowman-building contest.
Children over the age of 10 can participate in an altitude research camp where they will learn how to interpret what the snow tells us about the climate. Glaciologists will lead the camp and let children get hands-on experience using real scientific tools to make the snow tell its story.
The tourism office will host afternoon snacks every day at the base of the resort, during the week-long event. Each night, starting at 5 p.m., children will enjoy a crepe party along with night skiing, karaoke, and cheesy tartiflette, a local specialty.
These events are free for children and parents.
