Cortina d'Ampezzo is hosting a range of events dedicated to chocolate Dec. 16-19.
The four-day "Eurochocolate Ski" event is an international exhibition that will take place in Cortina for the first time. Chocolate-themed events include tasting sessions, a chocolate market, chocolate spa, chocolate-themed slalom race, and curling with chocolate. Many mountain refuges also serve traditional thick hot chocolate to invigorate skiers.
Cortina opens this weekend (Nov. 27) and is offering an early season ski deal valid for the Eurochocolate event. The Early Snow deal (valid Nov. 27 to Dec. 23) offers one free day's ski pass, accommodation, group ski lesson, and ski or snowboard equipment hire for all those staying for more than three nights.
Skiers in town for the Eurochocolate event can also visit the Christmas market which is in Cortina Dec. 1 to 31. This festive and colourful market features seasonal and artisan produce displayed in traditional wooden huts lining the Corso Italia - Cortina's pedestrian street.
Cortina d'Ampezzo is one of the resorts making up the Dolomiti Superski area. The ski pass covers1200 kilometres of trails, some 500 lifts, and more than 50 Italian villages.
