Perfect North Slopes, in southeastern Indiana near Cincinnati, wants to make sure those new to winter sports get started properly.

"We want to turn new skiers and snowboarders into lifelong advocates, and the best way to do that is make sure they get started in the right direction," ski school director Mike Mentler told OnTheSnow. "We offer an introductory lesson to all those new to the sport with the purchase of a lift ticket. It's automatically included.

"It takes away the frustration of trying to learn on your own, and it's the same lesson that you would pay for on a group basis with instruction; not just a safety lesson," he added.

For those seven and older the introductory lesson is available daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every hour on the hour, and you can stay in the lesson as long as you like; until your lift ticket expires.

One hour group beginner lessons are offered Saturday and Sunday every hour on the hour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for ages 4-6. Additional lesson time is available for $20 per hour.  All lessons are subject to instructor availability, and are not available for ages three and under.

A daily lift ticket (eight consecutive hours) is $45 for adults and $30 for children (12 and under) and seniors (60+). Rental equipment runs $23 for both skis and snowboards and helmets are an additional $10.

Beginners will find a large dedicated area just for them.  Lots of space to practice turns, and it's equipped with moving conveyor lifts for easy transportation back to the top of the slope.

Perfect North averages close to 30,000 lessons a season.  They keep an inventory of over 5,000 skis and 600 snowboards in rental stock.  Over 60-percent of their clientele rent equipment. It's located a little over a half-hour from the Queen City of Cincinnati and a little over an hour from Indianapolis and Lexington, Kentucky. They have taught literally tens-of-thousands of Hoosiers, Buckeyes, and Kentuckians to ski and ride over the last three decades.
