Thanksgiving weekend is full of activities, entertainment, and ski racing in Aspen. The world's fastest World Cup women skiers will compete in the Aspen Winternational Audi FIS Alpine World Cup. Grab your boots and hike up to the base of Lift 1A. Find a spot along the course to catch the racing action. Or better yet, watch the action in the grandstands and on the Jumbotron. Aspen's Jeff Hanle says that's the best way to do it, especially because it is free. "The Jumbotron is right in front of you so you can see the entire course as well as the lower section when they come in. You can see them come around the last handful of turns at the finish area." The Giant Slalom is Saturday and the Slalom is Sunday, Thanksgiving weekend.
The entertainment Saturday night is from the '90s rock band Blind Melon. The band will play at the base of Aspen Mountain starting at 6:30 Saturday night, Nov. 27. The band is best known for its song No Rain. Hanle says the whole weekend is free so you can't beat it. "Plus it's a chance to see the women who just skied in the Olympics, who are the best skiers in the world."
The Aspen Winternational Women's World Cup Awards will be held immediately after the concert, followed by fireworks over Aspen Mountain.
Other Bud Light Hi-Fi concert series dates are Jan. 29, Feb. 20, March 20, and March 25.
