The mountain received nearly 50cm of snow last week, a tremendous boost for those working to get the resort ready to host some of the world's best downhillers. "We are delighted with the progress we are making for this season, in terms of our snow making capabilities, preparedness for the arrival of the Austrian Ski Team, and the opening of the mountain," says Jamie Tattersfield, Mountain Operations Manager. Both the Austrian Men's and Women's teams will be training at Sun Peaks as a lead up to the North American World Cup opener at Lake Louise, Alberta. Alpine superstars including Olympic champion Fritz Strobl will be on hand as well as other men's and women's World Cup leaders. The team is using Sun Peaks Resort as its official North American training Centre through to 2010.
