Ski Dazzle lands in Los Angeles for four days Dec. 2-5. The ski and snowboard show brings 275 exhibitor and sponsor booths and one of the biggest opportunities for buying clothing and gear.
"The LA show is huge," owner Judy Gray told us, adding that attendance usually tops 80,000. "It's a gigantic shopping show with everything from entry level to casual skier to gung ho."
More than $6 million of brand-name gear is on sale. Some discounts can be up to 70 percent off. The show offers the opportunity to speak with experts to get gear that fits correctly, and the selection is broad with more than 20 different retailers represented as well as used gear in the swap.
Admission to the show comes with a free lift ticket to Bear Mountain or Snow Summit. The ticket is available in four options that include a free ski day before Dec. 17, a free night ticket to Snow Summit for anytime during the season, a buy-one-get-one free midweek non-holiday ticket valid starting Jan. 3, or a $30 discount on a season pass.
The show brings in varied entertainment, including a climbing wall, rail slide lessons, a rail jam, and lessons on a revolving deck. Renowned BMX riders and skaters demonstrate signature tricks on the Bear Mountain Vertical Ramp. Foodies can get "A Taste of Winter" with ski area-inspired cooking demonstrations by Rick Wineman, the LA Convention Center's executive chef.
Tickets for Ski Dazzle cost $18 for anyone 13 years and older. Tickets for children ages 6-12 are free while kids younger than 6 can get in free. Tickets are available online or at the door.
Ski Dazzle takes place in the South Hall at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Hours area 4 to 11 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
