Call them coupons, call them packs or punch cards. Either way, five Montana ski areas offer deals to slice a few dollars off lift ticket prices. The biggest bonus is that the tickets are transferable and can be used any day of the season.
Transferable tickets means that you can split the tickets between several people for use, even on the same day. They can be given as gifts or used to get family members, friends, business associates, and employees on the slopes. Each of these five deals contains transferable tickets, which can all be used in the same day, if you wish.
Discovery Ski Area outside Philipsburg offers a five-pack of lift tickets that shaves $4 off each adult lift ticket. The five-packs, which cost $170, are on sale until Dec. 25. They can be ordered online.
Great Divide Ski Area outside Helena chops ticket prices by 50 percent with its Half-Price Passport. The passport, which costs $49, is a 10-punch card that allows the cardholder to buy tickets at half the regular price. The cards are available online or by phone.
Montana Snowbowl in Missoula sells lift ticket coupons until Dec. 1. The transferable coupons for adults cost $33 each as opposed to the $40 rate at the ticket window. Special coupon rates for students, seniors, and children are available, too. The coupons can be purchased online or in person at Gull, Bob Ward's, The Trail Head, and REI in Missoula.
Showdown Ski Area, located south of Great Falls, sells the Showup At Showdown Card. The transferable punch card is good for three adult lift tickets any time during the season. Each card costs $93, which works out to $6 off each ticket. Purchase the cards online by Dec. 11.
Teton Pass Resort, west of Choteau, sells a three-day transferable pass good for anyone ages 15-65 any day of the season. The $79 pass equates to a shaving a little more than $2 off each lift ticket.
