Sweden's leading ski resort of Åre-Duved is offering a full week of festivities for all age groups this Christmas, Dec. 22-30.

Festive celebrations start Wednesday, Dec. 22 with the "Cut down you own Christmas tree" activity. Meet at the lakeside Åre Strand 1 p.m. for hot drinks and buns, then ride snowmobiles into the forests to find and cut down your own tree (300 sek tree; 200 sek adults; 100 sek children).

Families can take a snowmobile tour into the forest in search of Santa's secret home at 5 p.m.. The tour takes two hours and includes a visit with Santa and refreshments and buns. The price is 495 sek/person. The same activities take place the following day (Thursday, Dec. 23).

Traditional Christmas celebrations take place Christmas Eve in Duved 1:30 p.m. Santa and his crew come to Åre to wish all the children and adults a merry Christmas. After dancing around the Christmas tree and drinking glögg, all good children will receive Christmas gifts.

Christmas Day highlights include a ski race for children aged 3-11 in Nallbacken in Björnen 11 a.m. followed by a torchlit procession with hot-dog barbecue in Björnen.

Between Dec. 26 and 30, there are various barbecues, DJs, and ski races for the whole family.
