Powderhorn continues its ramp-up to the 2010-11 ski season with the Powderhorn Racing Club's annual Snow Ball, as well as the Powderhorn Job Fair. Both events take place Saturday, Nov. 13.

The 2010 Snow Ball is hosted at the Mesa State College Center Ballroom from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday night. The ball serves as a fundraiser for the Powderhorn Racing Club, and honors local pioneers of Grand Mesa skiing. This year's honorees include Bill Foster, Bob Beverly, Shirley Woodard, Gene Taylor, Bob Sisac, Dort Spooner, and Tom Garner. Casey Puckett, five-time Olympian and Winter X Games Gold Medalist, will serve as special guest speaker for the night.

"I'm honored to be invited as the special guest," says Puckett. "I'll address the racers, I'll address the parents, and I'll address the coaches, and talk to them about what goes into making a champion ski racer."

Tickets for the event are $40 for adults, and $15 for ages 14 and under. Dinner is included. Tickets are on sale at Gene Taylor's Sporting Goods or The Board & Buckle, both in downtown Grand Junction. Visit Powderhorn Racing Club's Web site for more information.

The Job Fair is being held at the Powderhorn Base Lodge from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday. Department managers will be on hand to interview for seasonal positions mountain-wide including Terrain Park Crew, Lift Operators, Retail Clerks, Hospitality and Snow Removal to name a few. Bring an ID and social security card, and spend a winter working where you play.
