Here is a sampling of holiday activities at four Utah resorts. Deer Valley Resort: Dec. 24: Santa Claus pays a special visit to guests in the Snow Park area from 9-11 a.m. He heads up to Silver Lake from noon to 1:30 p.m. Guests are invited to bring a camera and have their picture taken with Santa. Dec. 30: The line-up for Deer Valley's Annual Torchlight Parade begins just before 6 p.m. on Big Stick ski run above the Snow Park Lodge. Complimentary hot cider and cookies will be served as DV's employees snake down the run with their brightly lit flares. Your best vantage spot is on the upper deck of Snow Park Lodge. The Canyons Resort: Dec. 23-25: Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on the slopes, delivering candy and treats to all the good boys and girls around. Look for Santa and friends at the Flight of The Canyons gondola, as well as throughout the entire resort from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 31: The free New Year's Eve celebration features live music and fireworks. The evening festivities kick off at 7 p.m. with an outdoors concert (dress warmly); the fireworks display will follow at 7:30 p.m. The band will play until 9 p.m. Solitude Mountain Resort: Dec. 22-Jan. 1: Solitude's family friendly holiday week features a host of activities. There's avalanche dog demonstrations, alp horn players, a pizza party coupled with performances and activities at Last Chance Mining Camp, ice skating in the Village, and walk-up tubing on Main Street run. Dec. 25: "The Grinch" visited a few years ago during the filming of the movie starring Jim Carrey. Now Santa makes certain that Solitude is a regular stop on this big day. Dec. 30: The resort is aglow during the New Year's Eve Torchlight Parade, as employees ski and snowboard from the top of Eagle Ridge down Sunshine Bowl to Main Street. A good vantage point would be the skiers' bridge near the base of Apex. The parade starts around 7 p.m. Dec. 30: Children of all ages can take part in this special parade of lights. Kids meet at the Moonbeam Ski Academy at 4 p.m., ready to ski. Parade route is from the top of Moonbeam, down Main Street to Last Chance Mining Camp, starting at dusk (around 5:15-5:30 p.m.). Snowbird Ski Resort: Dec. 21: Santa and Mrs. Claus visit Snowbird.
