Cervinia-Breuil will open for for the winter season Saturday, Oct. 30. The area has benefited from recent snowfall and there is currently 50cm of fresh snow on the upper slopes (3480m) and 10cm on the lower (2555m) and middle slopes (2810m).
A pre-season ski pass (valid Oct. 30 to Dec. 3) is priced at €28 adults, €17 juniors, and €20 seniors.
The Breuil-Cervinia Valtournenche Zermatt area is one of the largest in the Alps. Its 350 kilometres of terrain stretches from Valtournenche (1524m) to Piccolo Cervino (3883m) and over two countries: Italy and Switzerland.
An early on-slope event in Cervinia-Breuil is the Pool Sci Italia - Ultimate Ski Test 2010-11. Ski manufacturers, Pool Italia, offer skiers the chance to test this season's equipment for free Dec. 10-11.
Skiers of all levels can try out the latest gear from leading brands, including Atomic, Blizzard, Dynastar, Fischer, Head, Nordica, Rossignol, Salomon, and Voelk. As well as free ski tests, the event features a complete entertainment programme with free giveaways.
The Ultimate Ski Test 2010-11 also visits Obereggen Nov. 26-28; Passo San Pellegrino Dec. 4-5; Ski Civetta-Soldo Dec. 18-19; Limone Piemonte Jan 15-16; Corno alle Scale Jan 22-23; and Val di Fiemma Pampeago April 2-3.
