Three Minnesota ski areas - Giants Ridge, Spirit Mountain and Welch Village - are offering a Three Peak Pass, which allows one day of skiing or snowboarding at each area during the 2010-11 season.

The pass is $75 and has to be purchased before Dec. 24. It is available through all three ski areas.

The Three Peak Pass provides participants access to three resorts with a diversity of terrain and incredible snow conditions.

Scenery ranges from steep terrain found along picturesque river valleys near Red Wing, to panoramic jaw-dropping views of Duluth Harbor and the Queen City, to never-ending forests and lakes along the ridges of the rugged Iron Range near Biwabak. The skiing and riding is just as diverse with vertical drops that range from a little over 300 feet to a hefty 700-foot drop. The three areas offer a total of 117 slopes and 25 lifts.

"I took advantage of the pass last season when it was introduced," Minnesotan Russ Lothian told OnTheSnow. "It's a bit of driving, but I really enjoyed getting around to the different areas.  Skiing was great. I got to see a lot of the state and enjoyed some different terrain. I probably wouldn't have visited all three without the pass incentive. I'm getting it again."

It's a win-win for both ski areas and customers, according to Giants Ridge Executive Director, Linda Johnson.

"Customers have the ability to enhance their winter recreational opportunities and take advantage of Minnesota's diverse terrain," she emphasized. "We hope to keep the skiers and riders, who may be new to our individual areas, as future customers."
