Big White Ski Resort pours the Big Reds during its third wine tasting festival Dec. 11. The annual event celebrates the release of the red wines from the British Columbia interior region wineries. Packages that combine Big Reds tickets, free skiing, and lodging are available.
Big Reds at Big White, as the festival is called, features the newest releases of Bordeaux-style wines from the Okanagan Valley. Cabernet sauvignons, merlots, and shirazes top the selections for tasting at the festival. Three Big White chefs create trays of appetizers to accompany the wine tasting, which features more than 30 wineries.
The event, which takes place 6 to 9 p.m. in Big White's Village Centre Mall, traditionally sells out early. Tickets cost $50 per person.
Big White is also offering a Ski Free with Big Reds package. The package, which is available Dec. 8-12 with a two-night minimum stay, includes lodging, lift tickets, and Big Reds event tickets.
Lodging for the package is available in one- or two-bedroom hotel or condominium units starting at $119 per person per night based on double occupancy. Three- or four-bedroom condos and select vacation homes are available starting at $117 per person per night based on quad occupancy. Use the special code NE to book the Ski Free with Big Reds package.
