Gearing up before hitting the slopes often demands a certain budget. Shoppers looking to update their equipment and save a few euros can hit the jumble sales "La Grande Braderie" at La Clusaz Nov. 13-14.
Every year, around 2000 shoppers spend the weekend looking for deals on gear and more.
In this Haute-Savoyard town, a dozen shops are participating in the event that lets customers find new-season gear at discounted prices. The event been taking place for around 30 years and is always a hit with bargain hunters.
Shoppers can browse all the gear they'll need for a week on the slopes: skis, snowboards, boots, clothes, and accessories from some of ski world's best known brands like Roxy, Rossignol, and Burton. More than 900 pairs of skis, 600 pairs of ski boots, and a thousand clothing articles will be on sale. You can expect to save 30 to 50 percent on equipment and up to 70 percent on clothes and textile goods.
Shops will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13 and from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14. The shopkeepers participating in rumble sale accept French cheques, bank cards, and, of course, cash.
