Cervinia, part of the Breuil Valtournenche Zermatt area, has expanded its facilities this season, offering more for experts and beginners.
Cervinia now offers more for experts with the addition of two new black pistes: the first is perfect for testing technical skills with a vertical ski passage and the second (the former number-24 run) has been been totally re-routed, lengthened, and widened.
There is a new playground at Plan Maison. This season, Plan Maison, where lifts and pistes meet in the shape of a star, has a new playground with a magic carpet (children's lift), on which younger visitors can gain confidence. A special area also has been created for beginners, with the added advantage that Plan Maison's many sunny terraces, bars, and restaurants are within easy reach.
Cervinia is linked with Zermatt, which has also benefited from summer. Zermatt will offer skiers an expansion of mountain restaurants this winter. The Restaurant Blauherd has been totally renovated at a cost of CHF 2.5 million. It has changed from a self-service restaurant into a bar-lounge with a large open terrace and is due to open at the beginning of December. The Restaurant Sunnegga, the region's largest mountain restaurant, has been remodelled at a cost of CHF2 million. It has been converted from a table-service restaurant into a self-service buffet to cope with the high-season demand.
