Appalachian Ski Mtn. in Blowing Rock, N.C., has a new eight-hour flex ticket this season, and expanded hours.

"Not only do you get more time on the slopes than the old seven-hour ticket, but your ticket starts when you do," says General Manager Brad Moretz.  "We are pleased to give them more bang for the buck."

The eight-hour Flex Tickets are good for eight consecutive hours of skiing or riding between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m.

Appalachian has added two more hours of skiing or snowboarding every day, 4 to 6 p.m., and the clock starts ticking on the resort's new eight-hour tickets when guests hit the slopes.

In the past, Moretz said, anytime a guest arrived after 9 a.m. they were paying for time on the slopes that had already elapsed.

Expanded night sessions now start at 5:30 p.m. instead of 6 p.m.

Appalachian's normal operating hours are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. The resort stays open until midnight Fridays and Saturdays, Dec. 26 to Feb. 20, for Midnight Blast Weekends.

Appalachian has 10 slopes, the longest a half-mile long, two terrain parks with 13 rails and eight boxes, a vertical drop of 365 feet, and two quad chairs, a double, and two surface lifts. All terrain is lighted for night skiing.
