Snowbomb Festivals return to San Francisco and Santa Clara in November, just in time for the ski season. The ski and snowboard festivals combine a wine and brew fest with the latest in ski gear, resorts, and entertainment. It also offers more free lift tickets upon admission than last year.

The format is same at both shows with gear sales and industry reps available. Some equipment and clothing is discounted up to 70 percent off. Entertainment includes DJs and a pro BMX half pipe demo. But each show features a few different vendors and wineries. More than 150 wineries and breweries will be attending, and more than 20 resorts will host booths, including all of the Tahoe resorts. The Wine Expo takes place Saturday of each weekend and the Brew Expo Sunday.

"It's really taken off," Meredith Stead, vice president of Snowbomb operations, told us. "The San Francisco exhibitor space has been sold out for weeks, and we're expecting Santa Clara to sell out, too. We expect about 20,000 people per event this year."

Snowbomb also booked live music at the Santa Clara event Nov. 14. Zepparella, an all-female band, plays covers of Led Zeppelin classics.

General Admission tickets for all ages cost $20 per day at the door, and the $40 ticket for those 21 years and older includes beer and wine tasting and commemorative glassware. Tickets are available in advance online with a $5-10 discount.

Admission includes three free lift tickets to three resorts: Bear Valley, Dodge Ridge, and China Peak. The tickets have restrictions on dates of use. Two-for-one tickets are available for Kirkwood, Boreal, Diamond Peak, and Mt. Rose. Other resorts, such as Squaw Valley, Northstar-at-Tahoe, Sierra-at-Tahoe, Alpine Meadows, and Homewood, offer 10 percent off lift tickets or lessons. Admission also includes a one-year subscription to SKI or Transworld Snowboarding and a free combo meal at Wahoo's.

The San Francisco Ski and Snowboard Festival is at Fort Mason Center's Festival Pavilion in the Marina District. It runs 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Nov. 6 and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 7. The Silicon Valley Ski and Snowboard Festival takes place at the Santa Clara Convention Center during the same hours Nov. 13-14.
