Snow Valley Mountain Resort refurbished a crucial lift in the mountain network and plans to reopen it this winter. The resort also invested in mountain wide upgrades and is running its season pass sale through November.

Lifts 4, 8, and 10 have not been operational in the past few years. But the resort refurbished the key Chair 8 that serves as a link between the front mountain and Slide Peak. The chair also services intermediate runs.

"The lift will allow easier access," spokesperson Roger Vieau told us. "Prior to Chair 8, skiing or riding back on the access road in soft afternoon snow made it almost impossible to get down. Lift 8 will once again pull skiers out of the bowl and will make it easier for snowboarders to climb back out."

The resort also invested in other improvements. Margarita Beach will reopen at the base of Chair 11. The food venue that used to operate a decade ago was given a trial run last year for a bit, complete with food, drinks, margaritas, beach chairs, and a volleyball net for snow volleyball. A new food venue will also be installed at the bottom of Chair 8.

A new Prinoth Bison X 2011 will aid in shaping features in the terrain park, and a new sales system has been installed in all retail stores and restaurants to achieve faster service. The rental shop was beefed up with new ski and snowboard equipment and additional boot dryers.

The resort is running its season pass sale through Nov. 30. Passes, which run $179-299 on sale depending on age, can be purchased online or by phone.
