Construction workers revamped the Sierra Summit Fresno ticket outlet shop during September for a new look, new space, and new merchandise. The shop also has a new name-China Peak Sports-to match the new image of China Peak.

"We're in the process of remodeling and bringing in new merchandise," Michelle Vikupitz, store manager, told us in late September. "You'll find accessories from head to toe, anything for the snow."

The shop has always served as a ticket outlet for the resort. It's the type of place where skiers and riders stop by to find out the mountain conditions before driving the 65 miles to the resort. But it will do much more this season. You can purchase and pick up season passes, buy lift tickets, pay ahead for rentals and lessons, and find all of the gear you forgot at home. The shop will also serve as a bus pick up for those heading to the resort.

Skiers and riders can get tickets printed at the shop to go straight to the lift. "A lot of people do that on the weekends, so they don't have to hassle with the ticket window when they get there," added Vikupitz.

Vikupitz ran down the list of name brands the shop will carry. You'll find gear and clothing from Oakley, Smith, Burton, and Volcom, but no hard goods such as skis or snowboards. The resort has a new name this year, so big on her list is the new China Peak logo gear.

The shop opened Oct. 1 and plans to host a ski swap to benefit the race team Oct. 24. Season passes are on sale during October, including the $149 college pass. The new College Season Pass 6-Packs reduce the price to $99, but you have to round up five buddies to purchase the six passes together at $594. They are available throughout October or until they sell out.
