Hunter Mountain in the Catskills of New York State is selling season passes at pre-season rates until Oct. 17.
The passes offer a season's worth of skiing or riding, but also gives holders discounts on goods and services, and direct-to-lift access.
Gold Passes include unlimited skiing and riding, and 15 percent discount at most on-mountain dining establishments; discounts on season locker rentals; and 20 percent savings at the Ski Shop, Board Room, and Learning Center Boutique.
Adult Gold Passes are $799 through Oct. 17, then increase to $899. Young Adult Gold Passes (age 13 to 18) are $349, then $419. Junior Gold Passes (age 7 to 12) are $329, then $399. Senior Gold Passes are $459, then $529. 70+ Club Members are $99.
Hunter Mountain also sells a Big Lift Card which offers savings every time a holder buys a lift ticket. The card costs $45, and offers 25 percent savings on weekend and holiday tickets, and 50 percent on midweek tickets.
Hunter Mountain calls itself the "Snowmaking Capital of the World," with some justification. The resort makes snow early, often, and in large quantities, so the moniker is on the mark. The area is also known for the large numbers of singles it draws from the New York Metro areas. Food offerings are atypical and blazed new culinary trails. You might even find sushi on the menu. The Kaatskill Club is a big draw. Located slopeside, it has 109 rooms, and indoor-outdoor pool with a spa and restaurant, and a health club and fitness center.
