One of the first signs that the winter season isn't far off for Ontario snow sports enthusiasts. The Ottawa Ski, Snowboard & Travel Show takes place Oct. 22-24.

Show hours are 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, and everything takes place under one roof at the Ottawa Civic Center in Lansdowne Park. Admission to the show and parking are free.

There will be mountain resorts from across the USA and Canada, ski travel wholesalers, equipment manufacturers, and winter wear retailers. Special only-at-show pricing on vacation packages, ski pass promotions and multi-resort value passes will be available.  Ottawa's Calabogie Peaks will have a booth at the show.

A used-equipment sale will also be taking place during show hours. It's an inexpensive way to get started skiing or riding, and it's also a good place to get rid of used equipment you've outgrown.

Free seminars will be held all three days.  The seminars will cover alpine ski tuning, cross-country waxing techniques, ski boot selecting and fitting, and equipment innovations by manufacturer's reps. Follow the link below for a complete list of seminars and times.

Ottawa is within a half-day drive from major ski resorts in Quebec, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York.
