Les Gets is taking further steps to ensure that it offers skiers a green destination for their holidays.
Its tourism office is hoping to be awarded the ISO 14001 certification this autumn. The lifts of Les Gets have been ISO 14001-certified since 2008.
The resort continuously aims to make visitors aware of the fragility of the mountain environment. They have participated in the creation of Eco Guide, edited each year by the Mountain Riders association. This group also hosts an ecology-themed week of events each year at Les Gets.
Les Gets already gives out free pocket ashtrays to discourage clients from throwing their cigarette butts into the snow. Every spring, the resort also organizes rubbish pick-up days to clean the mountain after each ski season.
Thanks to Les Gets desire to offer an environmentally-friendly destination, skiers can use the free shuttles that link the centre of the resort and surrounding hamlets or the resort's two ski areas.
The resort also offers lift pass discounts for skiers who car share. Every Wednesday and Sunday during ski season, pass through the entrance drive-in with four or more people in your car and get a 25-percent discount on each single or half-day ski pass.
