Swiss Snow Cover "Above Average"

27th December 2006 | By Patrick Thorne

Resorts in this article: Zermatt

Nearly 200km (125 miles) of piste are open and virtually all lifts, including the link over to Cervinia in Italy. Most other Swiss resorts have healthy conditions if not quite as spectacular as Zermatt. Saas Fee has slope depths of up to 150cm (Five feet) on upper slopes and a currently rare Alpine snow park fully open, but still only has half of its runs open. Like most resorts in Europe could do with a fresh snowfall – the last one was spectacular, depositing 75cm (30 inches) of snow, but it was nearly three weeks ago back on 9th December.
