Serre Chevalier has invested almost €10 million in modernising its ski area in time for this winter season.
Serre Chevalier will open its seventh six-seater detachable chairlift this December. The new installation will connect Villeneuve to Monetier les Bains, two of the villages that make up the ski area. They area also in the process of dismantelling the old Les Balmes chairlift.
To ensure that the resort benefits from optimal snow cover no matter what the weather, Serre Che's managers have decided to expand the network of snow canons.
This year, clients can once again enjoy a new concept called "Neiges de Culture." This idea brings together skiing and culture. Skiers take the lift to the summit of the resort and can ski down one of the cultural circuits, where they will pass through lightweight constructions called Chionné Huts. Here, totems will tell the story of Vauban and the secret manuscript or the conspiracy against Julius Caesar when he came through these parts.
Neiges de Cultures includes historical adventures, thematic pistes, photo exhibitions, MP3 sound paths, and unexpected shows.
Serre Chevalier's ski area is open until April 24. It offers a total of 250 kilometres of runs divided in to 108 pistes for all levels of skier and snowboarder (24 green, 31 blue, 38 red, and 14 black).
