Over the next several years, the resort will create a new plaza as the central focal point of the village. Work towards a village core begins this summer with a $5.2 million rebuild of Chair 1 - the main access to the summit. After a new high-speed quad replaces the current chair, Chair 2 will also be extended and re-aligned with a high speed quad replacing the fixed grip. In addition to the new lifts, the Plaza area will also be home to the future Hellroaring Lodge, a new restaurant and meeting spaces, as well as the terminal of a new skier and pedestrian lift that will link the Day Lodge and Plaza. With the reconstruction of Chair 1, Big Mountain will have no lift service to the top of the mountain this summer.
