The new Peakworld 3000 building is set to open at Kitsteinhorn's top station (3029m) mid-December.
It will feature the Cinema 3000, with its eight-metre-wide screen, and the National Park Gallery, with its 360-metre-long gallery leading visitors to the panoramic platform.
Maria Hofer, head of marketing at Kitzsteinhorn-Glescherbahnen Kaprun, says, "From mid-December, the top station of the Kitzsteinhorn will not only be the highest station in the Salzburg region easily accessible to everyone, but also a state-of-the-art structure in the Alps."
The Kitzsteinhorn glacier is kicking off its winter season Nov. 6 with a full line-up of activities both on and off the slopes.
The Kitzsteinhorn's "White Start" opening weekend Nov. 6-7 offers ski testing of the latest models from brands like Atomic and Blizzard; helmetcam testing; a massage drive-in directly on the slopes;a massage programme in Alpincenter; and live music entertainment on the Kitzsteinhorn from DJ Ozzy in the afternoon and Big O3 Disco in the village of Kaprun in the evening.
The Kitzsteinhorn glacier is open 365 days a year and is surrounded by the highest peaks in Austria. The 20 state-of-the-art cable cars and lifts take skiers and snowboarders up to 3029 metres. The slopes on the glacier are extremely varied with steep, challenging runs to wide-open pistes.
The Kitzsteinhorn Mellow Park is approximately 30,000 square meters and consists of the Roxy Glacier Park, the DC Central Park, and Easy Park. In total there are more than 70 obstacles and a halfpipe.
