GearFest, held in Dayton, Ohio's, Eastwood Metro Park, in just a few short years has grown into one of the largest fall outdoor festivals in the Midwest.  Last year it drew over 8,000 outdoor enthusiasts.

The multi-day event takes place Oct. 1-2, and offers a rail jam/snowboard competition, organized bike rides, mountain bike competitions, running events, a climbing wall, disc golf, and a chance to try fly fishing, geocaching, kayaking, and canoeing. It offers something for everyone from the budding weekend warrior to the hardcore outdoor enthusiast.

The Hunt for Shred October Rail Jam/Snowboard competition hosted by Mad River Mountain takes place Saturday. It will be held on ice shavings to simulate snow, and it works just fine. Several freestyle snowboarding shows will take place throughout the day along with a rail jam competition open to the public in the afternoon.  Bring your board and see if you can spot a boradslide, 5-0, tailslide, nosepress or 270 lipslide.

There's an exhibitor village with all the latest outdoor gear, including ski and snowboard equipment, a beer garden, and demo shows on Saturday afternoon by MBS Mountainboarding and DK Bikes.

The MBS Big Air Demo Team from Colorado Springs brings the excitement of mountainboarding to the Midwest. It's a high-energy show that will keep you amazed and laughing. The choreographed stunt show is filled with speed, jumps, flips, and humor.

Free overnight camping is available and pre-registration is recommended.
