Les Saisies, a family-friendly resort in the French Alps, is making a few additions to its ski area this year.
This winter, Les Saisies will be introducing its new chairlift, more snow canons, a ski zone for children, and a bobsleigh roller coaster.
The four-seater Place des Carrets chairlift is replacing the Les Carrets and Le Lac drag lifts. This should make it more comfortable for beginners to access the Carrets and L'Aiglon green runs.
The resort is also installing 20 new snow canons to help ensure optimal coverage. These canons will be located near the Tetras, Sapins, and Verdets pistes.
Les Saisies is also giving little skiers their own area where future champions can get the feel for varied terrain. The Espace des Elfes will be located at the end of the Les Blanchots piste, in the forest. Child-sized snow hills and adapted curves let young skiers go beyond the kiddie park.
This will be the first full winter season for Les Saisies' Mountain Twister, which was inaugurated during last year's Nordic Festival in December. This attraction gives riders nearly 800 metres of downhill riding, with speeds reaching 40 kilometres per hour. Its tracks stand up to eight metres above the ground and include hairpin curves and spirals. Riders can board a bobsleigh alone or with a friend.
One ride costs €3.90. Passengers pay €1. Five- or ten-ride passes are also available starting at €17.60.
