The Portugese Ski Federation has launched a scheme called "To play in the snow is good." The federation aims to attract 100 youngsters, with their parent's support, to get involved in snow sports. About half of the children, aged between 7 and 10, will be from the locality of the country's only ski area at Serra da Estrela, the other half will be from all over Portugal. All children must have some knowledge of skiing and will be encouraged to compete. The scheme, which also has International Ski Federation backing, is being promoted under the tag line, "To be a champion is difficult, but it is possible!"
