Zermatt is offering discounted ski and stay packages for early skiers hitting the slopes between Sept. 20 and Dec. 18.
The A Taste of Winter package includes five nights' accommodation and a five-day ski pass. The price starts at CHF418 (€279) per person for apartment accommodation.
The package offers a wide choice of hotel and apartment accommodation to suit all budgets: a four-star hotel costs from CHF784 (€523); a three-star from CHF648 (€432); a two-star from CHF558 (€372); and one-star from CHF413 (€342). Guests opting for the "Taste of Winter" package must arrive on a Sunday.
Zermatt, the village at the foot of the Matterhorn, is on the Italian border of the canton of Valais in the west of Switzerland. The ski area is not only the highest in the Alps, but offers skiing 365 days a year. During summer 20 kilometres of pistes are open each year on the Zermatt Theodul Glacier. The winter ski season kicks off Nov. 28 which opens a massive 313 kilometres of pistes suitable for all levels of skier and snowboarder.
Zermatt is known for its reliable snow cover, world-class off-piste, and good quality mountain food. Winter activities for non-skiers include winter hiking, tobogganing, snowshoeing, ice climbing, and ice skating.
