Two Arizona Resorts Turn Lifts

Arizona Snowbowl ran three out of four lifts on their opening weekend. Agassiz, Sunset, and Hart Prairie hauled skiers and riders up for packed powder, sans snowmaking. Meanwhile, the jib crowd hit the three boxes and two rails in the terrain park. Sunrise postponed their opening, despite snowmaking. But the resort finally became the second ski area to open in Arizona, turning its three lifts on Sunrise Peak Friday, Dec. 14. The following day the ski hill threw open Apache Peak with packed powder conditions and five lifts running. Crews plan to open Cyclone Peak on the weekend of Dec. 22-23.
