Where can you catch up on some of the latest technology and social media tactics, schmooze with those on the forefront of the industry, and ski? The Tahoe Snowcial returns Jan. 6-9 for its third season at Heavenly Mountain Resort with early registration discounts for those who sign up before Sept. 30.

The winter festival of technology and snowsports takes place at Heavenly Mountain Resort and Harveys Resort Casino at South Lake Tahoe. The partial lineup of speakers who will share their online successes includes Dave Morin, co-founder and CEO of Path and co-founder of the Facebook Platform and Facebook Connect; Josh Williams, CEO of Gowalla; Rob Katz, CEO of Vail Resorts; and David Norton, CMO of Harrah's Entertainment.

Snowcial was launched by a group of skiers and snowboarders who work for Heavenly Mountain Resort and One to One Interactive--a digital marketing firm based in Boston, Baltimore, London, Reno-Tahoe, and Salt Lake City. Their impetus created a festival that fosters the development of ideas combining snowsports, technology, and online communities.

"What's cool about the event is that it's not just your run-of-the-mill conference," said Heavenly's Russ Pecoraro. "Where else can you go skiing for half a day, then hear from the CEOs of emerging companies like Gowalla and Path?"

The half-day conference is supplemented with three days of skiing or snowboarding at Heavenly, two headline concerts at Harveys, a welcome reception, two dinners, a lunch, a breakfast, and networking opportunities. Tickets for the event come in various combinations that can include admittance to the conference, lift access, lodging, and some meals. Companion tickets are available to bring a spouse or friend.

Registration is available online. Early bird rates, which run $450-1,250 for packages, are available through Sept. 30. Rates increase Oct. 1 by $50-200.

Networking at the event begins Thursday with a welcome reception. The conference opens Friday packing in guest speakers starting at 1 p.m. Skiing and snowboarding is slated for Friday morning, Saturday, and Sunday with entertainment in the evening at Harvey's. Recording artist and entrepreneur M.C. Hammer returns for a special show Friday night.
