British Airways is set to launch a new flight route from London City Airport to Chambery Airport in the French Alps this winter.

This new service, by BACityFlyer, will operate four times a week between Dec. 18, 2010 and March 2011 on the new Embraer 190 aircraft.

Luke Hayhoe, BA CityFlyer commercial manager, told OnTheSnow.com: "Our schedule is ideally set up to give our customers the opportunity to spend a long weekend, a full week, or even longer, skiing on some of the world's best slopes and resorts."

Chambery Airport, in the Savoie region, is the gateway to the popular French alpine resorts of the Three Valleys (Courchevel, La Tania, Meribel, Les Menuires, Saint Martin de Bellville, Val Thorens, Brides-Les Bains, and Orelle), Espace Killy (Val d'Isere and Tignes), and Paradiski ski areas (Les Arcs, La Plagne, and Peisey-Vallandry).

Fares start from £59 one way (including taxes, fees, and charges) and can be booked on ba.com. The fare includes one piece of checked luggage, seat selection 24 hours prior to departure, and snacks and drinks on board.

With this latest flight, British Airways now operates three flights from London City Airport to European ski destinations, the other two being Zurich and Geneva.
