TMI is among the first hotels in the nation to become 100 percent carbon neutral. According to owner/operators, Thea Leonard and Andy Beerman, the efforts involved reducing their carbon footprint. They cut back on energy by 12.5 percent last year despite a dramatic 30 percent increase in business. They also run with the Blue Sky program to purchase wind power equal to 35 percent of their total power consumption. This year TMI offsets its remaining carbon footprint, estimated to be 593.6 tons, (from electric, natural gas, and vehicle use), with Carbon Offsets from Clean Air-Cool Planet, facilitated by Native Energy.
