Where . . . Snow Dome Bispingen, Germany

What . . . More than 480,000 visitors are attracted to the 300-metre-long and 100-metre-wide ski area each year. The slope ranges from 20 to 90 percent gradient and there is a total skiable area of 23,500 square metres.

The slope is served by a detachable six-person chairlift with a capacity for 3000 people per hour. The beginners/children's area is accessed by an 80-metre-long magic carpet lift.

130 qualified and certified instructors are on hand to train all levels of skiers and snowboarders. The temperature is held at -2 degree Celsius, so dress warmly.

Snow Dome Bispingen is open from 12 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 9 a.m. Friday to Sunday. Closing times are 7 p.m. Sunday, 10 p.m. Monday to Thursday, and 11 p.m. Friday to Saturday.

Non-Skiing Activities . . . 80-metre-long toboggan run for two-person sleds, tubes, or Zipflbobs.

Food/Shops . . . Food and beverages are served at the six bars and restaurants, featuring a typical Tyrolean restaurant and live acts, DJs, beer garden, and party atmosphere. The Dome Sports shop offers a large selection of snow clothing to rent or buy.

Prices . . . A one-hour ski pass costs €18 adults; €12 children. Lessons at ski school cost €40-45 per hour. Group courses are up to eight people and cost from €30 per person.
