Among the first of a barrage of ski movies aimed at roiling up the juices of skiers and riders is The Way I See It from Matchstick Productions. The company has scheduled its world premiere of the film at the Boulder Theatre in Colorado Sept. 18, 2010, followed by a world tour.
The tour involves about 74 planned dates all across the U.S. and Canada, Norway, Sweden, and eventually to France, the UK, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, and other countries. Performance venues have been set through Dec. 10, with more dates and venues to be announced for 2011.
"The Way I See It" features "unique perspectives on the progression that took place during the winter of 2010," according to press announcements. The film showcases deep powder, steep lines, and massive park features from British Columbia, Japan, Alaska, Colorado, Switzerland, Idaho, Washington, and other locales. The premise is based on athletes offering the points of views on what it means to be a skier, backed up with action footage. A huge park feature was was created at Alyeska for filming.
Matchbook Productions was founded by Steve Winter and Murray Weis 18 years ago. Their first film release was Nachos and Fear in 1992. MSP has been awarded "best film" honors by Powder Magazine six times and has received three Emmy nominations for Focused, the company's HDTV series.
