Cali Pols Would Put Lids On Kids To Ski, Ride

2nd June 2010 | Craig Altschul, Editor-In-Chief

California's State Senate has now passed a helmet law similar to one passed earlier in the Assembly requiring children under age 18 to wear a helmet when skiing or snowboarding.

It's not law yet, but it's heading that way. Stay tuned.

The bill was written by Sen. Leland Yee, (D-San Francisco).  Yee told the Fresno Bee newspaper the bill was written to avoid imposing liability on businesses, with law enforcement being responsible for enforcement.

The bill tells resort operators they must post signs about the requirement and calls for parents to be fined $25 for a violation. Be forewarned: Get those helmets early.
